World Cup 2023 Qualifiers: Senegal and DR Congo Secure Victories, Tunisia Settles for Draw

In African qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, Senegal claimed the top spot in their group with a 1-0 victory over Mauritania, courtesy of a header by Habib Diallo. Diallo scored by connecting with a cross from Pape Matar Sarr. The match in Nouakchott was marred by a delay due to fan disturbances. DR Congo follows Senegal closely in Group B after a 1-0 win against Togo, thanks to a combination from Yoane Wissa and Meschack Elia. Meanwhile, Tunisia’s previously perfect run was halted by a goalless draw with Namibia but still leads Group H. The qualifiers will pause after the next round, continuing in March 2025.
